Mely Avila T-shirt
$25.00
Mely Avila lives and works in Mexico City and Oaxaca. Avila finds inspiration for her drawings and photographs in Mexican indigenous cultures and craft, storytelling, myths and legends, syncretism and the natural world.
Born in California in 1985, she produces her work in collaboration with Zapotec artisans in Oaxaca, and is also an active participant in the Center for Digital Culture in Mexico City.
Avila's series of subtle portraits are defined by a simple, graphic, black line creating universal faces. She has recently started to transfer her drawings onto various surfaces, including rugs and apparel.
Institute 193 is proud to partner with her to produce this T-shirt, thus starting a relationship with artists from the (expanded) South.
Limited edition of American Apparel round neck t-shirt. Slim feet and super soft feel.
