"Footpaths and Barricades" is a zine produced to accompany Sasha Tycko's exhibition "Ways of the Atlanta Forest" at Institute 193 from January 17-March 1, 2025.
Functioning as a companion — and counterpoint — to the exhibition, it presents photographs made by Tycko during the two week period in December 2023 when large swaths of the occupied Atlanta forest were raided by the police and illegally demolished by a private developer, which effectively foreclosed the mode of picture making developed for "Ways of the Atlanta Forest". If the exhibition explores possibilities and openings in the defense of the Atlanta forest, this booklet handles the blunt forces closing down on them.
16 page zine, featuring 12 of Tycko's black and white photographs accompanied by a new essay. Printed on risograph by Grotesk Press in Lexington Kentucky. Edition of 125.
